Stamford, Connecticut is a bustling little city located in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Fairfield County is located in the South Western corner of the state of Connecticut, with its proximity to New York City being about 45 minutes on a train. Stamford is bordered by Long Island Sound on the Southern border, which gives Stamford a lovely coast line on Long Island Sound with yacht clubs and beaches. Greenwich borders Stamford on the Western border, by Pound Ridge, New York on the Northern border and by Darien and New Canaan on the Eastern border. This is why many people who work in New York City and seek a suburban place to work will live in Stamford, CT and commute to New York City using the Metro North Rail Line. Stamford is a city in itself as well, with large office buildings and a metro center with shopping and restaurants. Many of the Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies have their corporate headquarters in Stamford. Surrounding the metropolitan areas is suburban Stamford, with quiet and tree lined neighborhoods. Among these neighborhoods are Downtown Stamford, Roxbury, Long Ridge, Ridgeway, Glenbrook, and Springdale. There are several college branches in Stamford including branches of Uconn, or the University of Connecticut with the main campus in Storrs, and a branch of the Sacred Heart University. The major highways which run through Stamford are Interstate 95, or I95, and the Merritt Parkway which is also a major route for vehicles going to and from New York City.
